S1 History of Science Intermediate-English TR Course with Professor SIMS

1. Course Overview & Objectives

This intermediate-level course explores the History of Science through a critical lens. Students will look beyond the standard timeline to question how scientific narratives are constructed.

Learning Goals

The course focuses heavily on developing core Reading & Writing competencies, alongside essential oral skills:

·       Reading efficiently and gathering relevant information.

·       Identifying distinct points of view in texts.

·       Recapping information orally.

·       Expressing personal opinions and defending a position argumentatively.

2. Language Levels & Target Requirements

This course is tailored for intermediate groups, corresponding to a placement test level between minimum B1 and maximum B2+.

·       Class Activity Focus: B2 level.

·       Minimum Validation Requirement: B1+ level.

·       Exceeding Objectives: C1 level.

Note on Group Placement: If a student exceeds 5 evaluation items at the C1 level, they will be switched to a C-level group.
